This privacy policy sets out how Magic for Smiles uses and protects any information.

We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected and adopt a privacy by design approach.  Should we hold certain information, by which you can be identified, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement and for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes in relation to our services.

We may change this policy, periodically, by updating this page.  You should check this page regularly to ensure that you are happy with any changes.  This policy is effective from 25 May 2018 in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). All staff must adhere to their respective company privacy policies (GDPR versions).

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest.  However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website.  Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement.  You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Who we share your data with

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service. In particular, we hold your information to maintain up to date records so that we can contact you regarding our services.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your explicit permission or are required by law to do so.  We will not share your personal data outside of the UK and EU without ensuring that it is afforded the same level of protection as GDPR provides.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

You may choose to access, restrict the collection / use of your personal information or withdraw consent for processing at any time by emailing us.

You will not have to pay a fee to control your personal information (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request for access is clearly unfounded or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with the request in such circumstances.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure.  In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures, with all data processors, to safeguard and secure the information we collect.
